Annabelle Hydrangea

Annabelle (Hydrangea arborescens ) is a stand out white hydrangea that has been known to produce flower heads over 10″ in diameter with most being 6-8 inches.   This special hydrangea will bloom every year even after harsh winters and heavy pruning.  It will start blooming in June and continue for up to two months with a small repeat bloom in the fall.  Dark green, serrate leaves accent the clusters of large white blooms.  Blooms appear as large soft white balls similar to the popular Snowball Bush that blooms in the spring.

Annabelle Hydrangeas tend to have a rounded habit which typically grows 3 to 5 feet tall and 4 to 6 feet wide.  This deciduous shrub is native to the midwest and eastern United States.  Best when planted in dappled shade with protection from direct afternoon sun.    Hardy in zones 3 – 9.  Popular for large container gardening, flowering hedges, border, or as a specimen plant.
