Rudbeckia Black-Eyed Susan

Gallon – $7.97

IMG_0678Rudbeckia fulgida ‘Goldstrum’ –

One of my favorite perennials and loved for its sunny bright yellow blooms and extended blooming time.  A herbaceous perennial from the sunflower family, they are commonly called black-eyed susans.  Planted in groups, these happy yellow blooms will brighten up any perennial bed, border, or wildflower garden. The daisy like flowers are ‘cone shaped’ as the petals point out and down as they open – exposing a dark brown contrasting center.  They prefer full sun but will tolerate hot humid summers and some drought.  The make great cut flowers for the house.

Hardy in zones 3 – 9, they grow 2 – 3 feet tall with a spread of 1-2 feet.  Butterflies are drawn to the bright yellow flowers.  Deadhead spent flowers to encourage additional blooms.
