Purple Leaf Sandcherry   (prunus x cistena) is a medium sized ornamental shrub or small tree.  Can have a mature size of 8 ft x 8 ft, but easily pruned to desired size.  This is an easy care, low maintenance plant that adds nice color and height to any landscape with a moderate growth rate.  The oval growth habit opens out from the center of the shrub forming a nice shape.  The beautiful crimson purple foliage remains throughout the season and is what sets it apart from the other plants in the garden.  In April, striking blooms open into white / pink flowers.
