Coneflower Echinacea

An old fashioned favorite from the daisy family, this hardy perennial is a garden classic. It is a native wildflower in the central United States. There are several cultivars available in an array of colors. We have the old fashioned purple coneflower and a hybrid called Wild Berry. Echinacea is loved for their abundant, bright pink and purple flowers mid summer. Coarse, hairy stems and leaves bear 4-6 inch flowers.

These plants love the heat and do best in full sun but will tolerate part shade. As with most perennials, deadheading will prolong blooming. Butterflies love these beauties making them the perfect pick for Butterfly Gardens. Hardy in zones 3-9..
