Scabiosa columbaria ‘Butterfly Blue’ , also known as Pincushion Flower, is a butterfly magnet with its striking 2 inch lavender blue pincushion flowers. Foliage forms a nice mound with flower spikes reaching 12-18 inches. Plants are covered with the butterfly loving blooms from mid spring to fall. For on going blooms, deadhead spent flowers.
‘Butterfly Blue’ Scabiosa blooms make great cut flowers or use in borders and cutting gardens. Plant in drifts or groupings throughout your garden. They also look good in containers where you can bring their charm closer to the patio. Plant in average, well draining soil, Space 12-18″ apart and keep well watered until established.
