Catmint (Nepeta xfaassenii) – ‘Cat’s Pajamas’ PP31127 CPBRAF is the 2021 Proven Winners ^® Perennial of the Year 2021. A smaller scale version of other catmint varieties, Cat’s Pajamas is a smaller and improved catmint with blooms covering the length of the stem. Cat’s Pajama catmint grows in a compact ball shape with long, dark flower stems covered with indigo blue flowers. This improved variety has blooms from the soil line to the tips of the stems, unlike older varieties that only bloom at the top of the stems. Another plus is it blooms about 2-3 weeks earlier than other catmint varieties.

Catmint (Nepeta) plants are tough, easy to grow perennials that are long-lived and hardy bloomers from late spring to summer. They grow well in normal to poor, well draining soil. The tiny leaves are aromatic and repel rabbits and deer.

They need full sun to part shade. To promote blooms, give these plants at least 6 hours of full sun daily.

An excellent perennial that reaches a height of 12 to 14 inches tall with a spread of 18-20 inches. Catmint is also an important source of nectar and pollen for honey bees while also attracting Butterflies and Hummingbirds.

Catmint is often used as a border plant, edging or in mass plantings.
