Salvia – (East Friesland Sage)  – Deep-violet purple spiked blooms held on upright sturdy stems that bloom from spring to frost.  Outstanding!

The colorful deep violet flowers are crowded and full, contrasting well with the deep green foliage.

Salvia is an easy choice as it is a hardy, low maintenance  perennial with striking colorful blooms.  Blooms continue throughout the summer until the first killing frost in Fall.  Comes back in Spring again to put on another show of purple.    Perfect for garden beds, containers, borders, and landscapes.

Hardy -20 to -30 degrees usually zone 4.  Space 16- 18 inches apart and enjoy their fast growth.  East Friesland Sage Salvia  grows to 18 – 24  inches tall and loves full sun and heat proving to be drought tolerant.    Birds and hummingbirds are drawn to the vibrant color of the blooms.   Deer resistant but not deer proof- depending on scarcity of food.  Partners well with daylilies, phlox, daisies, black eyed Susans, coreopsis, and roses.
