Pussy Willow
Pussy Willow branches are now ready for harvesting as Spring draws The buds begin to open late winter to very early spring and make great indoor arrangements. Branches can be used in wreaths or other decorations remaining preserved and beautiful throughout the year. The tough, sturdy branches with their silvery catkins can be used fresh or dried.
Due to their hardy nature, Pussy Willow branches are a great option when decorating for outdoor events being held during the spring and hot summer months. When using in arrangements and prefer the silvery fuzzy catkins to remain in their bud like state, place them in a vase of water to slow their development. To dry them, place in a dry vase and they will keep their form for ages. Stems with unopened buds can be forced into Flower by re-cutting stems underwater and holding in water in a warmer (60 – 65 F) environment.
