Dicentra spectabilis Valentine® is a “new” Old Fashioned Bleeding Heart boasting beautiful red flowers. This fast growing plant has arching red tinged stems with dark green foliage. Flowers hang from the leafless stems for several weeks. These unique heart shaped flowers are red with white tips and appear in late spring. Enjoy the plant until flowering is over at which time it goes summer dormant until the following spring. Planting other bushy perennials such as Hostas nearby will help to fill in as they go dormant.

Bleeding Heart stems are a favorite for cutting bouquets, often lasting up to 2 weeks in a vase. They are often used as a focal point, in woodland shade gardens, cottage gardens and containers.
