Perennials are generally plants which die down every winter below ground level and produce new stems and foliage each spring.  Of course there are exceptions but this definition is true for most perennials which are also known as herbaceous perennials.  Some perinneals are evergreens, retaining their foliage throughout the winter months.  Evergreens are great garden addition to avoid a completely bare look during winter.  A minority of perennials , including bamboo, have woody stems and evergreen leaves

Perennials can be found growing wild in coastal and mountainous areas, in meadows and forests or even along the roads.  They are versatile, easy to grow plants that bring year round attractive foliage and flowers to any size garden.  They are tough plants and I like to partner them with shrubs and trees to build a coherent garden structure.  They can be grown in containers, in gardens as a ground cover, or planted as the backbone to you flower beds.  Perennials are adaptable and tolerate a variety of conditions.

Many perennials require lifting and dividing every few years to encourage plant health and growth.  I like to plant in groups of three or five sir a larger impact.  The perennials sold at the Ranch are grown from seed or cuttings and should thrive in the NW Arkansas environment which is zone 6.

Hey Becky I am looking forward to working in my yard this spring and visiting you often. What is the best way to put in an order?
